Consultation Meeting for Strategic Project under Interreg IPA Bulgaria-Turkey Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2021-2027 was held online

The consultation meeting for the strategic project to be implemented under the 2021-2027 programming period of Interreg IPA Bulgaria-Turkey Cross-border Cooperation Programme was conducted online on 6 August 2020.

Chaired by Mr. Bülent Özcan, general director of Financial Cooperation and Project Implementation, the meeting was attended by representatives from the Strategy and Budget Office which is affiliated to the Republic of Turkey Presidency, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Trade, Governorship of Edirne and Trakya Development Agency as well as from the Directorate for EU Affairs.

During the meeting, Ms. Şebnem Sözer, Head of Department of Union Programmes and Cross-border Cooperation informed participants about the Programme structure, Programme’s preparation process ahead, Interreg Specific Objective 2: A Safer and More Secure Europe, and its neighborhood, strategic project component of the future Programme and strategic project proposals. After discussions on the strategic project proposals from the Ministry of Trade and Trakya Development Agency, the project proposal of the Haskovo Regional Directorate of Bulgarian Ministry of Interior entitled “Increasing the capacity and cooperation for improving the operational-search activities related to illegally staying persons and potential perpetrators of crime on the territories of Haskovo, Bourgas and Yambol Districts and the Edirne Province” was also consulted in the meeting.

In accordance with comments and proposals from the participants, it will be continued to collaborate with the Programme’s Management Authority in Bulgaria to mature the decided project proposal to be implemented under the Interreg Specific Objective 2: A Safer and More Secure Europe, and its neighborhood.
