Interreg IPA Bulgaria-Türkiye Programme to Fight Forest Fires via proposed Strategic Project

The Interreg IPA Bulgaria-Türkiye Programme has started discussions for preparations of a proposed strategic project within the framework of its objective “A Europe Closer to its Citizens”

The first meeting of a strategic project proposed to be implemented regarding the climate change measures and prevention and management of climate related risks of fires, floods and landslides was held.

In this context, an online meeting was held under the chairmanship of Şebnem Sözer, Head of the Cross-border Department of the Directorate for EU Affairs, the National Authority of the Programme, with the participation of  relevant stakeholders from central and local organizations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Disater and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) and Geneal Directorate of State Hydraulic (DSİ). During the meeting, the views on proposed strategic project were collected. If it is contracted, project will be implemented in Edirne and Kırklareli in Türkiye and Haskovo, Yambol and Burgas in Bulgaria, which constitutes the area of Interreg Bulgaria-Türkiye Programme.
