The REGIOSTARS awards, organized by the European Commission since 2008 as a part of the European Week of Regions and Cities, are being organized for the 16th time this year. Each year, the awards are given to EU-funded projects that made a difference by demonstrating new approaches in regional development and inspire other regions and project managers in Europe.

REGIOSTARS awards are given to projects in different thematic categories each year. In this year’s contest, projects can be presented in five different categories. These categories are;

– a competitive and smart Europe category targeting projects to support competitiveness, innovation and economic resilience,

– a connected Europe category targeting projects to enhance mobility and connectivity between regions,

– a social and inclusive Europe category targeting projects to achieve a more inclusive Europe by harnessing regional capabilities,

– a Europe closer to the citizens category targeting projects to promote the sustainable development of all types of territories,

– a green Europe category targeting projects for green transformation as the enabler of regional development.

The deadline for the competition is May 31, 2024.
