Project Summary

International recognition has grown for multilateral efforts to address the adverse ecological and socioeconomic effects of abandoned fishing gear. This dangerous form of marine litter has significant impacts on marine habitats and wildlife, including threatened species. Despite knowledge gaps, the Black Sea health is threatened by derelict fishing gear, and the BlackNETs project aims to quantify and minimize its impact.
