European Cooperation Day coordinated by the INTERACT Programme in association with the European Commission, and supported by the Committee of the Regions and the European Parliament has been celebrated in various parts of Europe for 8 years.

This year, within the scope of Bulgaria-Turkey IPA Cross Border Programme where the Directorate for EU Affairs acts as the National Authority, European Cooperation Day 2018 was celebrated in Burgas and Edirne.

European Cooperation Day, which was conducted with the participation of 30 children of kindergarten age from Nilüfer Hatun Kindergarten and Burgas Valshebstvo Kindergarten started with common activities such as informative videos, presentations regarding Edirne and Burgaz, dance shows, singing songs. Other enjoyful activities composed of painting under the ‘’Painting our future together’’ motto, games and quiz for kids. 

The activities, which contribute to increase cultural awareness among children, who live in both parts of the border provided an opportunity for children to learn by having fun, know cultures and improve their creative skills. 

Şebnem Sözer, who is the Coordinator of Financial Cooperation Directorate from Directorate for EU Affairs, participated in the event through video connection and addressed a speech expressing the importance of the day. She pointed out that these interactions ensure future friendships both between individuals and societies.
