Overview and Objectives
The programme is financed by the European Union and national contributions from both countries under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA III). Bulgaria–Türkiye Cross-border Cooperation Programme supports cross-border cooperation projects between eligible regions in Türkiye and Bulgaria during the 2021–2027 period. The programme aims to enhance territorial cohesion and cooperation by funding joint initiatives that promote local development, environmental sustainability, and people-to-people exchange.
In the 2021–2027 period, the programme continued to support joint projects between Türkiye and Bulgaria, focusing on themes such as environmental sustainability, social inclusion, and local development.

Key Achievements in Previous Periods
2014–2020 Period:
- Total Budget: €29,6 million, including 85% IPA II contribution.
- Over 101 projects were implemented through two calls for proposals. Thematic focus areas included environmental protection, climate change adaptation, and the preservation of cultural and natural heritage.
2007–2013 Period:
- Total Budget: €32 million (€27M EU + €4,8M national contributions).
- 138 projects were successfully completed by the end of 2016.
