Two-day trainings were organized for the partners of the strategic project implemented under the Interreg IPA Bulgaria-Türkiye Programme. The trainings were held in Edirne and Kırklareli provinces with the participation of representatives of law enforcement agencies in the programme region. The trainings held within the scope of Joining for Safer Borders Project started with the opening speeches of National Authority of the Programme and the high-level participants of the project partners in Türkiye. In Edirne, the trainings started with the speeches of Eyyüp Batuhan Ciğerci, Deputy Governor of Edirne, Serdar Öztürk, Deputy Director General of Financial Cooperation and Project Implementation from the Directorate for European Union Affairs, the National Authority of the Programme, and Roberto Ivanov, Third Secretary from the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Edirne.
In Kırklareli, the event started with the opening speeches of Deputy Governor of Kırklareli Yusuf Güler, Şebnem Sözer, Head of Cross-border Cooperation Department from the Directorate for EU Affairs.
Training for 56 Turkish and Bulgarian law enforcement officers in Edirne and 31 in Kırklareli was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Volkan Tatar, Head of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Arel University. The trainings aimed to improve the knowledge of law enforcement officers in the cross-border region on EU legislation, common instruments and mechanisms at EU level, national institutional frameworks and policies on the management of migration flows. It aimed to contribute to the achievement of common competencies of partners and to strengthen the ability of the relevant departments to function effectively within national migration management systems. Contributed to improving the professional capacity and skills of law enforcement officers in the cross-border region.
Within the scope of the project, under the activity of trainings to improve the capabilities of law enforcement agencies to function effectively, two further joint trainings will be provided, targeting communication training and language skills development.
